The Link Between Goals And Motivation

In life we would not get anything done if we did not have the motivation to do it. Every single thing that we do is controlled by ourselves and our motivation. Most days we get through things, but then other days we simply lack the motivation to do so. On these days we lounge around, we lay in bed longer than we usually would and we do not particularly care about anything other than relaxing.

Most of us are stuck in a life that we did not plan out for ourselves. We do not particularly like our jobs, we tend to want more money and we complain constantly that life is boring. However we do not do anything to change it because we simply lack the motivation needed to change anything.

So just how do we get the motivation that we need? Well it is all about setting goals for ourselves.

Setting Goals to Get Out of a Rut

Getting out of the rut that you are in within your life can be hard work but it can be done! However it will not get done if you simply sail on as stress free as possible and ignore what it is that you want.

If you want something in life you have to make it happen. Many people seem to have the notion that something or someone is going to come and make everything fantastic for them. However it is just not going to happen. You need to sit back, think things through and realize that whatever happens in your life is down to you. Only you have the potential to make your life complete and only you know what it is that you want from your life. So, write a list of everything hat you want to accomplish.

Do you:

* Want another job?
* Want to own your own home?
* Want to learn a new skill?
* Want to overcome a certain fear?

Whatever it is that you want to achieve write it all down. It could be simple or it could be something which you think is completely unattainable - whatever it is just write it down and acknowledge it. Then once you have a list of goals you will know just what it is that you are aiming to achieve.

By having something to aim for it gives you a purpose. By looking at your goals and knowing what you want, you will be able to look towards ways of making those goals happen. For example, if one of your goals was to make your financial situation better, then look at all of the ways in which you can do that. Firstly you could start by looking at your incomings and outgoings and see how they measure up. Then you could work out where you spend your money each month and on what you spend it on. By looking at everything logically it allows you to find ways of changing your habits and it is then that you can achieve your goals.

Overall goals are there to help us to understand what it is we want. We create our own goals and the great thing is that all of our goals are achievable if we set our minds to it. Nobody can hold you back but yourself! So if you want to find motivation to help you achieve your dreams then set yourself various goals and keep them near you to remind yourself of why you are making the changes that you are making. Whilst the road may not be easy, the change in your life once you reach those goals will definitely make it all worthwhile!
