The Keys To Owning A Successful Business

Success is such a general term that you really have to narrow the topic to which you are speaking.

Success can be related to business, health, relationships or any number of things. For the purpose of this article, we will focus on business.
Everyone who starts a business understands the failure rates are high, but the longer you hang on the higher the rate of success.
Most businesses fail within the first year and the ones that make it past the first year, struggle greatly until they eventually fold in the next few years.

However, the businesses that realize great success are the ones that find the motivation to hang in there. As a business owner, you will be challenged everyday by a different set of circumstances.
It may be employees, it may be insurance rates, it may be inventory issues. Whatever the reason, you will need to be passionate about your business to overcome adversity. Adversity will hit you no matter what, there is no avoiding it. Successful businesses plan for this and understand the nuisances that go with running a successful business. As Jim Rohn says: “The winds of adversity blow on everyone’s boat, it is how you adjust your sail that makes the difference.”

Passion plays such a huge role in the success of a business. When you truly love what you do, you tend to not focus on the process. You focus on the end result, which is helping your target market solve a problem. If you are indifferent about your business and go about it with little passion, you will run into problems. You will let adversity conquer you. If you do not have a high conviction for your product or service, you will let other people concince you to give up.

People will say things like “Just cut your losses, things are to tough to succeed.” Or they may say “ The market just isn’t right for your product, you need to do something different.”

If you are passionate and believe in what you are doing, you will not be talked out of pursuing your dream. Look at many successful entrepreneurs and you will quickly find passion and conviction.

Jeff Bezos, the founder of amazon.com started his business in an old garage. His plan was to start an online bookstore. Do you think he had to overcome adversity every now and again? Do you think people tried to talk him out pursuing his dream?
He stayed the course and built a billion dollar empire in a very competitive niche.

Passion and conviction are inherent traits of successful business owners. If you have both, you are increasing your odds of realizing your own success.
