Do You Have What It Takes To Exit The Rat Race?

Right now, somewhere in corporate America, there is an adult waiting for permission to go to lunch. He/she is sitting in their cubicle or office looking at the clock (mine says 11:20am EST) asking if it is too early to leave. Will anyone notice? Did I arrive early enough to warrant leaving for lunch at 11:30am? When can I return? Gee, it sure is nice outside, I would love to go for a walk after lunch, too bad my supervisor is here today. And on and on it goes, looking at the clock. The clock-watching gets even worse AFTER lunch. When can I go home? I’m all done and it’s only 3pm.

Wake up!

I hope that person I just described is not you champion. I hope you are on your way to realizing the life of abundance that I enjoy, as well as millions of others who made a decision to live life on their terms. This is not a decision that can be made by individuals who lack confidence or question themselves. You have to be laser-focused on what it is you truly want to do with your life.

One of my former co-workers called me last week to catch up. I was in Florida at the time but was happy to hear from him, so we spoke for about 30 minutes or so. He asked how I was doing and wanted to hear more about EverydayIsSaturday.com. I told him my life has never been better and the website is exploding with traffic. The CD will be launched in June along with the Everyday Is Saturday membership site. I told him it was going better than I ever imagined, that it is amazing what happens when you step out in faith and follow your dream.

Then I asked him how things were going at his job. He mentioned that the office had an offsite get-together at a bar. My immediate queston was “Who ended their career?” You know as well as I do that whenever you have an office party and alcohol is invloved, someone is going to do or say something so incredibly stupid it will be the beginning of the end of their career. He relayed a story that was unflattering for one of the employees and we moved on to other topics. I used to be the last one at the bar until I realized all the time I was missing with my family.

I became a square peg in a round hole as a father who placed more emphasis on dance recitals than happy hour.

You don’t choose your parents and you don’t choose your boss - with one exception. You CAN choose your boss if you have the courage to defend your dream. I did. Was it easy? No. Was it popular among the slaves in the corporate camps? No. Did people look at me like I had two heads? Absolutely. But while they were working last week I was in Disneyworld with my family. When they woke up to beat the rush hour traffic this morning I was having coffee with my wife Angela. And while they’re looking at the clock wondering if it’s o.k. to go to lunch, I’m in shorts and a t-shirt begging you to stand up and take charge of your life. If not now, when? How many more days can you handle being told what to do by someone who is where they are because of who they know?

You have the talent. You have a gift. Now all you need is a plan to execute. Stay tuned for the Everyday Is Saturday coaching program that will allow you to be free, but only if you’re ready.

You are a champion
