What You Speak Is What You Become
What you speak is what you become.
A very simple concept, yet most people do not understand the power of the spoken word. Your life can change on a dime just by rearranging your vocabulary. For example, if you are trying to look more fit and life a healthier life, you should not be saying “I wish I wasn’t so fat and out of shape.” A statement like that will leave you not only out of shape, but depressed as well. Many people will say something they think is more positive such as “I am going to lose weight this month.” But even that statement is self-sabotaging because you are focusing on the negative, which is your current weight.
Here is how to approach this scenario of weight loss. Tell yourself you will be enjoying a new life in a short period of time. A life where you will be wearing your clothes from twenty years ago. A life where you will smile often and give thanks that you are now at your ideal weight. A life that will be extended because you chose to take action. Doesn’t that sound much better than the previous statements? Of course it does and the lasting impact it will have on you will be huge.
Let’s talk about the words of others and how they affect you on a daily basis. We all know people who are negative. For whatever reason they just can’t seem to make it through the day without complaining about one thing or another. They are the epitome of self-sabotage. By their words alone, they have planted seeds in their life that will prevent them from experiencing all that life has to offer. They get handed adversity and that’s it, they’re done.
Let me let you in on a little secret. Adversity is going to happen to all of us and more than just once. If you haven’t failed on a high level, you aren’t trying hard enough. The difference between successful champions and others is that champions get back up and dust themselves off. After realizing they are still alive and well, they move forward. Successful people are only successful because they didn’t quit, simple as that.If you are associating with people who speak negative words, it’s time to disassociate quickly. You do not have to be mean or act holier than thou, but the air around them is polluted. If you choose to inhale that same air, your dreams will suffer as a result.
Be very careful of not only the words you speak, but the word of others that you allow into your mind. With the proper vocabulary, you will realize greatness for yourself and others who listen to the word you speak.
