The Power Of Focus

I tell my coaching students all the time that if you shine a magnifying glass over 10 different things, nothing ever gets hot. You have to focus on one task and one dream at a time. It will not heat up instantly but over time, with the proper (intense) focus, your dream will catch fire.

A good example of this is The Everyday Is Saturday Show. I first started recording my motivational podcast in summer of 2007. I had alot to say (big surprise) and wanted to get the message out as frequently as possible to champions all around the world. I know firsthand the negative messages being thrown around from people who have never achieved success. wanted to be the voice of inspiration that you can indeed succeed no matter what the circumstances.

So we launched our first podacst in late June. We had 70+ subscribers the first week. Anything over one ( not including myself) would have made me extremely happy. I made sure I recorded one show a week with fresh new motivational and inspirational content. I was doing what I loved and was helping people all around the world realize that life is not a dress rehearsal - you need to take massive action.

After a month the weekly subscribers were over 100 - fired up! Now I was receiving emails from people I have never met telling me to keep up the great work, that the Everyday Is Saturday message has changed their life. Wow! Just a few months earlier I was still employed listening to people within the organization tell me the time was not right for an SEO solution for small businesses - stop laughing…

Back to focus.

Fast forward to 2008. We now have more subscribers to The Everyday Is Saturday Show in one DAY than we used to receive in an entire week. Why? Focus. I held my magnifying glass over my dream and watched it turn into an inferno. I now have an assistant to handle all the emails and voicemails we receive (I still respond to each one personally) and will be on stage in two onths speaking to 600 people with Dr John Maxwell, Coach Carter and a host of other motivational speakers.

Focus.

What is your dream? Are you shining your magnifying glass over it until it catches fire. It will not burn up immmediately, it may take some time but when it starts to get hot, you will never be the same. Don’t let distractions get in the way of your success. Stay focused on what it is you want to achieve and don’t let anyone or anything stand in the way. Most people get frustrated because success is not quick enough and they go onto another activity they feel will help them be successful much more qucikly. Not gonna happen.

If you believe strongly in what you’re doing, shine the magnifying glass over it and stay continue doing so until it catches fire. The Everyday Is Saturday Show is one of the most popular motivational podcasts online because I didn’t let go of the magnifying glass. By the way, we are recording a new show today which will be available after 3pm EST. It will be the best show yet, they keep getting hotter.

You are a champion
