Tough Times Don’t Last
If you find yourself in a tough situation right now, look at the weather outside. Here in PA where our family is right now, it’s about 10 degrees outside. I look out the window and think, man is it cold but I also understand that it’s just a season of my life. Granted it’s a very cold season but I know right around the corner will be some leaves blooming from the trees in our back yard and soon enough I’ll be looking at a 90 yard pitch shot from my favorite golf hole.
I have spoken to many people recently who are experiencing some very difficult times. Some have had a death of a loved one, bankruptcy, illness, job loss, job insecurity and many more tough events. I have given the same advice to all of these champions. You are experincing a season.
A season that will soon give way to another season of your life. My mon died over ten years ago, way to young. Not having a dad, she was all I had - no grandparents, no father - just mom. Although its been 10 years, I still miss her but the hurt isn’t nearly as great as it was back in July of 1997. Also, because of my faith, I know we will all be together in the supernatural someday soon.
I know what’s its like to lose all you have financially. I have told the story hundreds of times about losing everything in 2005, at least what I thought was everything when it was only money. That’s when I figured out that you can always make more money but you can’t make more time. I started Everdyay Is Saturday and began speaking on the importance of family versus career and how to defend your dream.
Life is like a photograph. God gives you a negative and places you in a dark room until you develop. Then when the time is right, He brings you back out better than ever. I have had many negatives in my professional and personal life but have always focused on what I DO have rather than what I DON’T have. When you find yourself feeling down, make a list of all the things God has blessed you with. Maybe you recently lost a job or a shot at a big promotion. Don’t sit around and dwell on what you lost, focus on what you still have left because at any given moment it can all be taken away.
Tomorrow is never guaranteed but if you feel confident that you’ll be around a little while longer, understand there is another season of your life about to occur. It may be difficult to see right now but you need to prepare for that season. If you focus on the current situation you will not be prepared to receive all the blessings waiting for you in the new season. I know it’s difficult for me to imagine that 90 yard pitch shot into a beautiful green surrounded by flowers and all of the beauty of an 18 hole championship golf course, but it will happen. It may be 10 degrees outside but in my mind that visualization is cemented in my mind.
Your season is about to change, it always does. The question is: Will you be prepared for your new season? It’s time to clean out the closets and get your new champion clothes ready, success and happiness are coming your way.
