Sam Crowley - Heart Surgeon
Since we’re in the heat of the primary’s, I deemed it appropriate to blog today about exercising your right. My right to vote Sam? - you ask - Not exactly. I’m talking about your right to defend yourself and your dream.
I heard that about 30% of Republicans got out to vote on Super Tuesday this week and many more Democrats exercised their right as Americans to vote in the primaries ( I spelled it with “ies” this time - not sure which it is - how ’bout some help from you english majors), that was considered a great turnout according to the pundits.
So let my college drop out education go to work here. About 3 out of every 10 registered Republicans execrised their right to vote and that’s good? Cool.
That’s sounds horrible to me but what do I know.
Here is what I DO know. About 9 out of every ten people do not exercise their right to defend their dream when provoked. What does this mean you ask? It means when you share your dream with someone else and they laugh or poke fun and say it will never come to fruition, most of you don’t stand up and defend it. That’s embarassing.
If you’re not passionate enough to tell people with toxic attitudes exactly where to put their opinion, the chances of you succeeding are almost nill.
Building off my blog from yesterday, had I listened to all the people who shared their opinion with me about Everyday Is Saturday, I’d be broke, miserable and one of these absentee dads to their children due to long hours at work.
Do you want success for you and freedom for your family? Do you? Do you really? How bad?
Do you want it bad enough that when someone questions your business or your dream, you say “Thank you very much for your opinion but I would prefer if you kept it to yourself.”
Or are you like 90% of the others who simply walk away saying nothing. If so, you have not exercised your right to defend your dream. People ask what I do for a living and my answer varies - hence the reason my wife will not go out to dinner with me anymore with other couples. She loves me, but cannot handle when I share the truth. She would prefer we just rent a movie. Nothing against my dream, she loves what we have accomplished together and where we are now, but she is very modest and would rather we just keep our success a secret - as to not give the impression we are bragging.
Example: The last time we went to dinner with a couple I asked the hsuband what he did for a living. He said “I’m a heart surgeon.” I replied “You too?” Right then, you could feel Angela slumping in her chair saying “Oh no, here we go again. Sam is about to go into his motivation stuff and all I want is to order an appetizer.”
I followed up with ” I operate on people’s heart everyday of the week - 24/7 - battling the enemies of fear and adversity so champions all around the world can live the life they love. When I’m done speaking to their heart, they feel re-born with a new purpose for their life - truly awesome!”
I won’t go into the rest of the evening but you can pretty much determine how it went. “I’m trapped with a loose cannon and we haven’t even ordered our fist drink yet….” is what the husband was thinking:)
Could you be THAT excited about what you do? Do you exercise your right to be fired up about the life God has given you? If not, what are you waiting for??
The next time you explain your dream to someone and they laugh or say “Good luck with that but it can’t be done.” Just think of today’s blog and the Heart Surgeon who gave you permission to exercise your right to be a Champion.
Fired Up for dreamers everywhere!
