Les Brown Interview

July 8, 2010, Category: Personal Development

If you missed my interview with Les Brown last night, it was off the hook!

I’ve been a huge Les Brown fan ever since I got dipped into personal development. I love his passion and his self-deprecating humor. If you’re having even the slightest bit of a down day, all you need to do is plug into any of Les’ teachings and your mood will turn around record time.

I have the entire interview posted here on my Motivational Podcast

You must listen to this hour long interview more than once. There was so much awesome information shared, there’s no way you’ll catch everything the first time around.

I’ll be in touch soon about my upcoming virtual boot camp. Exciting times lie ahead for you. Set your sights high and don’t pay attention those who say it can’t be done.
You are a miracle and have the ability to live everyday like it’s Saturday.

My favorite quote form the call last night was “The problem is not that people aim too high and miss, it’s that they aim too low and hit.”

To Your Saturday,
Sam

Love Les, as I said, but as far as not being able to call out Toastmaster World Champions? I can call out at least 15 off the top of my head – and am friends with most of them. They may not be as big as Les, but who is, other than Zig & Brian?

    Hi Rich,
I think Les’ point was most people remember a good story vs the accomplishments of an individual.
He was encouraging people to harness the power of their story.

People who can tell a compelling story can earn significant money from stage and online, even if they have never had professional speaking training.
You don’t have to be a Toastmasters Champion to earn income as a speaker.
I don’t think he meant any disrespect towards Toastmasters, as much as it was meant to get people to take action and begin sharing their story.

Thanks for the comment Rich, always good content.

    Peace,
    Sam

I agree Sam – I get his overall point. Les was, I believe, a Toastmaster himself at one time, way back in ‘the day’.

There are TM champions making a difference in people’s lives all the time, from Mark Brown to Darren LaCroix to Craig Valentine to Ed Tate. The founder of NSA was actually a Toastmaster World Champion in the 40′s.

I certainly don’t want to diminish Les’ instruction – he makes great points. I just want to stick up a bit for those who he diminishes, however slightly or unintentionally, in this podcast.

Don’t want to get stuck in the weeds tho – 99% awesome stuff is still 99% awesome.

    Hey!

I recognize that photo! I took it with my camera that weekend we were all speaking in Tampa, I think it was, right?

    Great interview.

    @ Felicia
    YES!

You are correct, Felicia. That was the weekend of Willie Crawford’s event in Orlando and a bunch of us went over to the hotel restaurant across the street. Les walked in shortly after we arrived and you were quick with the camera:)

That was when I gave Bob Jenkins a million dollar jingle “….@BobTheTeacher….” sung to Van Halen’s ‘Hot For Teacher….” When he lands his own show because of the jingle I’ll be asking for royalties.
