The Every Day Is Saturday Show Is Ranked #1
Thursday, July 24th, 2008Can I brag for just a minute?
Last summer we officially launched The Every Day Is Saturday Show on podomatic.com. We chose Podomatic because of the large bandwith it offered on its server. Although we didn’t have one listener, we envisioned a movement of people who would rally behind the message of “Making every day Saturday.”
I am proud to (humbly) report that as of today, The Every Day Is Saturday Show is ranked #1 on Podomatic in it’s category - business. This is significant for a number of reasons: 1) Podomatic is one of the largest podcast portals on the Internet and hosts thousands of podcasts on its server. 2) They do not have a ‘motivation’ category, therefore we compete with thousands of shows that are not related to our niche. 3) YOU have voted and make the choice of where you get your inpiration each week.
Here is the most important point and the main reason why I posted this on my blog:
You can do the same thing.
I began speaking my message into a microphone in early 2006. I was using a free hosting site and would whisper into the microphone, somewhat hesitant as to whether I had lost my mind or was onto something special. I was so incredibly passionate about being a motivator, teacher and mentor to other champions, that I just went for it and sarted podcasting.
Major Success Nugget: Pay close attention to the rest of this post because it will launch your success into the stratosphere if you ‘get it.’
At first, I was worried more about what my friends and others thought of the message versus what my target market wanted to hear and what was in my heart to say. I didn’t want to be too “over-the-top” and have people poke fun or give negative feedback. Also, I had never hosted any type of radio show or anything similar to this before and had no clue what to say or do - so I just let it rip. after a few shows I was feeling more and more comfortable and then it happened…..the testiminials started coming in. At first I’d receive and email here and there saying “Sam, keep up the good work - love the show.” Fast forward to today and the response is unbelievable!
There is not an hour that goes by without some form of feedback on the show and it is ALWAYS positive. Men and women from all over the world check in each day letting us know how much they love the show. They tell us about the difficult times they are going through and how the Every Day Is Saturday Show helps them stay focused on the destination while they are in the journey stage of their dream. 50,000+ downloads a month in over 150 countries.
Awesome.
Here is what I meant when I said this will launch your own success. When you have a dream, chances are there are not a ton of people lined up outside your front door to hear about it. You have to plow forward and find your target market, understanding that you will not be an overnight success; it’s going to take time to reap the harvest. If you really believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are on to something special, don’t ask for permission to proceed. Go fo it. Go for it as if there are a million people begging you to bring them your message.
Don’t look for approval from the the same people you used to know in your former life. Stay in touch with them, be courteous and cordial but keep them at arms length while you build your Every Day Is Saturday foundation.
We may be #1 on Podomatic today but we haven’t even scratched the surface of all we have to accomplish. Our world tour will begin soon and as I mentioned to our email database yesterday, The Aussie’s are lobbying HARD for the first tour stop. I have never been to the Land Down Under and am amazed at how many emails we’ve received from all the Aussie Champions asking for a LIVE event. We’re working hard to make it happen, stay tuned.
Champion Reminder: Go for your dream - don’t ask for permission
