My Friend T.I.P Is Trapped

April 18, 2007, Category: Personal Development

I have a friend who is trapped in the corporate pyramid rat race.
Rather than embarrass him by name, I will refer to him as TIP (Trapped Inside Pyramid).

You would have no idea how miserable he was by speaking with him. He’s always pleasant and is an all around great guy.
TIP always asks how you’re doing and seems very interested in what you have to say.

As for his finances, he lives an upper-class existence. Beautiful home, two cars, kids in private schools, the whole nine yards.
So why so miserable?
He is a prisoner.

He has to report to his j-o-b (journey of the broke) everyday and work for a person he despises. He earns well into six-figures, but has more month at the end of the money.

He spends his entire day answering emails and putting out fires while his wife and children go about their day without him around.
On the weekends he answers more emails from his Blackberry while acting mildly interested in his family.
I tested him last week and sent him an email while he was on vacation.
Guess what happened?
He responded within five minutes!
Unbelievable.

TIP is trapped.
He has to work past his retirement age to pay for all the amenities in his life as well as the kids college.
He has no quality of life.
I have approached him several times about being involved with my million dollar team of champions and he just can’t do it.
He is paralyzed by fear.

TIP also uses the excuse “I just don’t have the time.”
No kidding.
How are you ever going to get the time?
I feel badly for him and everyone else who is trapped. What a terrible way to go through life – working like a dog and then you die.
It’s enough to make a grown man cry.
Pray for TIP and all the other “TIPPies out there.
