Outside The Box Is A Stale Metaphor Used By Weak People
I remember the event like it was yesterday.
I was a sales rep in Buffalo, NY and we brought in a lady within our organization to train us on thinking differently. My B.S. radar is always on high alert whenever lifetime corporate types are in the room.
It’s especially high when they are “Trainers.”
“Trainers” in any organization are ex-sales reps who couldn’t take the heat and opted for early paid retirement.
My radar was dead on that day in Buffalo.
She uttered the words “think outside the box” and unfortunately all of the impressionable managers latched onto it like a child to an Elmo doll.
From that point forward, the corporate landscape was changed forever. This video illustrates why you must repel anyone who ever suggests you Think Outside The Box.

Sam,
“You had me at Dudette!” ( compliments from a native Californian)
I have to say, if I had not applied for a position on oDesk posted by your Executive Assistant, Kelly Hurley, you would still be a unknown to me.
No, I’m not trying to weasel my way into the position; I’m one of those people who truly believe that nothing is a coincident (silly to some, serious to me).
Thank you for the point-blank, truthful humor you present about life in the rat race. I’ve been doing some serious re-evaluations of both my professional and educational life because of your words.
I understand you don’t like to read (per your YouTube clips); might I suggest my favorite motivational writer? Og (Augustine) Mandino.
I own everyone of his books, followed him closely when he was alive, mourned his death in 1996 and continue to visit the website that is dedicated to him; reflecting on the changes in my life since.
Honestly, with all of my research on motivational speakers and writers, since his passing (seeking to find someone to pick up where he left off in my life), you’re the first one who actually ‘gets it.”
With that, I just wanted to thank you.
