You Can Make Excuses Or Make Money

June 2, 2010, Category: Personal Development

So you want to quit your job?
You and about 99% of the world’s population.

If you’re like most people, you just can’t see how you can go for months with no income while you build your business (you know, that thing that’s been on your mind for the last five years…)

Let me ease your mind.

Question: Why do you think you would go for months with no income? Did someone tell you that was part of the plan?
Granted, you’ll most likely have to cut back a little but to prepare for long periods of time with no money is a poverty mindset.

I’ve coached many people who have earned MORE than what they left behind in their previous job, and it had nothing to do with their dream business.
One guy went from making $2k a month at his job to making $6k a month flipping everything and anything on Craigslist. Seriously. He would buy a refrigerator for $50, take it home and clean it up.
He then would put the same refrigerator back on Craiglist 24 hrs later and sell it for $300.

600% profit.

Was he planning for a life of appliance flipping? Nope.
He was doing a little grunt work like we all do to keep the bills paid and pocket a little cash. Did he need a masters degree to call a few ads and ask about the condition of appliances? Nope.
He needed a phone and a truck.
$6k a month isn’t too shabby when you leave a job paying $2k a month AND you’re building your million dollar brand.

Maybe you don’t want to flip appliances – cool. What can you do? Can you go to Elance and offer your services to a thirsty audience?
Ah Sam, but Elance is so cut throat, I’ll be outbid by everyone from India and Pakistan.
Maybe.
Maybe not.

The point is -
Your job sucks.

Figure out how to bring in money while you’re building your brand – the thing you REALLY want to do for the rest of your life.

Oh by the way, the guy who flipped appliances became a real estate millionaire in less than a year in a terrible economy where no banks were lending money. He wanted success as much as he wanted to take his next breath. A model coaching client and an awesome success story.

You can make excuses or you can make money, but you can’t do both

Excuses will keep you trapped in the rat wheel of life trading your life for the scrapes of money the Government let you keep from a JOB.

    THANKS.

Sam, Sometimes the universe simply amazes me with the people and wisdom it places in my path. Thank you for having the courage to create your saturday and for sharing with the rest of us. I LOVE what you said…..

You can make excuses or you can make money but you can’t do both.

I would love to paint this on a sign. Please let me know if you’re okay with that? Whether the answer is yes or no, have a blessed and fabulous week! And thank you again for all you do. I’m working on making everyday saturday too. :)

A great post. I know I have procrastinated, waiting for the money before I jump ship at my job. Maybe I need to just do it and take control. Thanks Sam!

I fully agree. If you concentrate on something and want it badly the law of attraction will ensure that you get it provided it is not for evil purposes

Great message Sam! Every time we make an excuse we deny our responsibility for our lack of success.

Love it! If your job sucks that much, why not go off and create your own?
