Lesson #2: Telling Your Story 301

How to Become a Master Storyteller

Tips for delivering your awesome message

How you deliver your message is just as important as the components you include.

You can’t aim straight for the bullseye; you have to work your way in via these 5 rings:

  1. The outer ring: Find the right people to share your message with. Find out where they hang out. Define the demographics of your target audience.
  2. Have you ever…? This is a great way to get the audience to listen to you. If you create an opt-in video for your landing page, use this question. Share a story of a fictitious person who represents your ideal client.
  3. The 3 Fs = Feel / Felt / Found.” I know how you feel, others have felt the same way, but what they have found is… “
  4. Happy ending – let them know there is a happy ending for them at the end of their journey.
  5. The bullseye is the moral of the story.

– Until you lose the mind of an average person, you can’t gain the mind of a champion.

– Don’t ever underestimate the ability to relate to individuals and develop rapport. Every situation is a sales situation and you have to build rapport in order to sell someone.

– People want to hear your raw, honest story. They need to relate to you, to know that you know how they are feeling because you’ve been there.

– Life comes to us every single day in the form of a story. Your story and you need to be interesting.

– As long as you stay in the game, your Saturday is a done deal.

– Communication = the transfer of emotion, both negative (get them angry to stay where they are) and positive (giving them the possibility of a happy ending). Turn the negative emotion into a positive one.

– It will never be perfect. Technological problems can be overcome. You just have to do it. Get going. Practice.

– What every great storyteller does: tell them what you are about to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you just told them.
